What does “Extended Convex” mean exactly?A regular mirror like the OEM DeLorean mirrors are made of flat glass covered with reflective layer. To extend the field of view a convex mirror was developed. It is a curved (convex) piece of glass. A great improvement over the regular flat glass and extends the viewing area by about 10% - 15%. The latest improvement is the extended convex mirror. It is a convex mirror where an outside 20% of the mirror is even more convex. This section is marked on the mirror by a thin black vertical line. This design virtually eliminates blind spots and the viewing area is extended by almost 50% when compared to regular flat glass mirror. |

Heated or not heated - that is the question...
Q: How much power do the heaters need? I'm afraid they will overload the electrical system in my car!
A: The heaters are self regulating. They start at about 8 watts each when cold and drop to about 4-5 watts when hot. Two heaters draw LESS current than ONE stop light or ONE turn signal. This amount of current will NOT overload the electrical system unless there is something very wrong with it.
Q: Do I need the heaters? I live in Florida and it never snows here!
A: The heaters are not meant for cold climates only. Even in Florida you can benefit from having them on the car. They will remove rain, condensation, mist and snow/ice and keep the mirrors clear.
Q: How do I connect them to the electrical system? Do I need to run any new wires?
A: The DeLorean car was meant to have heated mirrors from the factory. The wiring harness was installed in every car and there is a plug inside the door that supplies power to the heaters. You will not need to run any new wires from the car to the door. You will need to run a wire from the plug inside the door to the mirror. The needed wire and connectors are included in the set.
Q: Are the heaters connected to the rear defogger switch?
A: No. The heaters are meant to be on when the ignition is on. This way they are always warm and ready for any unexpected rain, fog or snow.
Q: Will they overheat? Maybe I should install an off switch?
A: NO, they will not overheat. They are self regulating. This means that the hotter they get the less power they use. There is no possibility of overheating. It is recommended they stay on all the time. This is the way the DeLorean factory designed them and this is the way most car manufacturers install mirror heaters. They are on when the ignition is on so they are always ready for the weather.
Q: How do I install them? Is it difficult?
A: If you know how to use a screwdriver you should be able install the mirrors yourself. Download the installation guide and read it carefully before you start your installation.
